Blackberry Ice Cream Pie

My sister asked me to make a little sumthin' sumthin' for Easter and I had the perfect recipe. Over a year ago when I was reading the archives of Love Taza (I went through quite a stage when I would read her blog from the beginning to end like a novel. Honestly, I feel like she is my bestie. #bffs) I came across this recipe. Obviously I pinned it and had all of the best intentions to try it aaannnd never did. Wah Wah. Until now. Wahoo!!

Not only is it absolutely delicious, it's freaking easy! And the crust! I could eat the crust by itself. No guilt. Ok, maybe a little guilt, but just wait until you try it. AND it's a little girl's dream it's so pretty!

Blackberry Ice Cream Pie
Adapted from this recipe.
Makes 2 pies

Ingredients for pie:
1 package of blackberry jello
1 tub of vanilla ice cream (1.5 qts)
Fresh berries for garnish

Ingredients for crust:
16 graham crackers
12 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp sugar

Prepare crust:
1. Crush graham crackers and mix with sugar and butter.
2. Press into bottoms and sides of 2 pans and chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
***I used one spring-form pan (pictured above) and one pie pan. It turns out well in the pie pan too, but let's face it, spring-form is the coolest and looks better in photos. Bam.

Prepare pie:
1. Set out ice cream to soften a bit.
2. In a large glass bowl add 2 cups of boiling water to your package of jello and stir until dissolved.
3. Stir ice cream into the jello mixture until evenly incorporated.
4. Let mixture cool a bit then pour ice cream mixture into prepared pie crusts.
5. Put pies in the freezer to chill for at least two hours.
6. Serve with fresh berries. (This is not optional--it's just too pretty!)

Yummy yummy!!

Easter Day 2014

I know, I know, I'm finally catching up on Easter photos.  Had a bit of a hiccup, ya know. Now, I'm able to access all of my photos on Flickr. Huzzah! So welcome, welcome, welcome back!

Easter was such a relaxing and fun day. After heading to church, my family all gathered at my sister's house (Ummmm she just got a new pup! Bartholomew Boyd) and we were blessed with the most beautiful weather! Helloooooo bubble wands
As you can see, RenĂ©e is just really good at throwing parties so her already adorable house was just so darling with Easter decorations and colors. Even the foods! M&Ms. Duh.
We had delicious springy drinks and released the Kraken at some point...then they sent us on one of the most epic Easter basket hunts! Complete with 5 clues AND yup, that's Anthony climbing out the window onto the roof to get our basket. Nice work, Ne!
We rewarded ourselves with delicious foods and a bit of a Nap. Oh it was such a fun day with the family!

I know it's been over a week, but did you have a great Easter?

Technical Difficulties

Hello all! I want so badly to blog today, but every time I've tried to access my photos in Flickr, the site won't let me log in. If you have any help I would appreciate it, otherwise I'll share about Easter as soon as Flickr is back up.

Cheers!

MAM After Dark | Prom

Sometimes I am just the worst blogger! This post was supposed to go up on Friday, but I had the day off and I really really meant to sit down and write it, but I was having such a good time and time just got away from me.

So over a week later I'm finally finishing my Prom updates. After we went to Mo's we ran over to the Milwaukee Art Museum for Back to the Prom.  The place was covered with under the sea decorations just like in Back to the Future. After taking photos with McFly and the DeLorean we grabbed a few drinks and boogied on the dance floor a bit. Then we took to the galleries for some photo shenanigans. We were photobombed! I had never been photobombed by strangers before. I love them. We also found the largest PBR can! Perfect size for me. Obvi. AND I found my new boyfriend, he reached out to me, really. Oh yeah, and we got some priceless shots with the guard. Yeah, I don't know either.

All in all, I think this was the BEST prom. I mean, we were able to have a little drinky, soooooo.

If you're in the MKE area, keep an eye out for the MAM After Dark events

I'll have some Easter photos for you on Wednesday and a little refreshing recipe on Friday to kick off your weekend!

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and a blessed Easter!

Prom | Mo's... A Place for Steaks

Prom! My first prom EVER! So if you read this post you know all about my prom deprivation. I never went. Wah Wah. I'm not really that bent out of shape about it, but when I heard that this month's MAM After Dark was Prom themed! LOOK out!
We decided to take it really seriously. We wined and dined and everything. Sarah had acquired a gift card to Mo's...A Place for Steaks, so, why not? Normally I'm not a big fine dining person. See this and this. BUT I was excited to try it out. The staff definitely made it easy to love the experience. And I mean, it's steak.

Sarah, my lovely date and I arrived a bit early so we hunkered down in our seats and mowed down nibbled on some breads with BBQ butter (?!?) (it was delicious!)

Our friendly waiter, Jordan (??-sorry I can't remember) checked in on us and gave us some helpful tips on what to drink as we waited. Martinis. We had to. J brought over perfectly chilled glasses and away we went.

Also, mirror selfies in the bathroom ^^^^

Rose and Chad arrived fashionably late. We had to get some posey group photos in there as it was their first time to the prom too! Complete with corsages and boutonnieres.

When they settled in we took a gander at the menu we all couldn't help but get our hearts in a little flurry of excitement. For Chad, Sarah, and myself the choice was steak. Hands down. And Rose ordered the seared tuna. The sides are meant to be ordered family style so we decided on the white cheddar mashed potatoes and the pepper jack macaroni and cheese.
Both were insanely delicious. I could have eaten them all myself.
Just kidding...no really.

I don't eat red meat much, but when I do I like it very pink in the middle. Medium rare is perfect for me. Mo's delivered! It had the perfect char and pepper on the outside and that middle!
Honestly it's getting a little difficult for me to write this post without getting hungry.

To top it all off the waiter brought us over a slice of cheese cake to share! On the house! So nice of them, really. We were stuffed, but we made room...as you can see.

The whole experience was really really nice. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very accommodating. Although I'm still a burger and beer kinda girl it changed my perspective of fine dining. AND it left us feeling all fancy-pants! The perfect way to kick off our prom night!
But, more about that on Friday. ;)

Now which do you prefer, fine or casual dining??
