Happy Monday all! I hope the weekend treated you well. Today we have a little guest post from the lovely Marlen of Messages on a Napkin. This is a lady that I have been following since the very beginning of my blog and she has been such a big supporter. AND she loves her city so I thought it would be awesome if she took us on a bit of a tour.

Hello readers and friends! I'm the girl behind Messages on a Napkin and I'm here today to gush about my home town, Chicago. I recently ran away to the PNW and holed up in Seattle, and while that was fun (I saw a volcano right outside my kitchen window!), the Midwest was where my heart was. So I packed everything back up and came running back, surrounding myself with tall buildings instead of gigantic trees. I'm a city kid through and through, and even though I've been looking up at skyscrapers my whole life, the look of them never gets old.
My favorite thing about downtown Chicago is that it's such an eclectic mix of old and new. There are buildings that make you imagine you're back in the 20's, with a fox stole around your shoulders and red on your lips. And right next to them are sleek, towering glass buildings that remind you you're actually well into the 21st century. My favorite thing to do is look up while I'm walking, and take in all the small details that are so easy to overlook while you're rushing around. And seeing how I usually have a camera strapped to my hip, I take care to snap away at those details. Here are a few of my favorite buildings and parts of downtown Chicago- have you ever been? I'd love to hear what you think of my city :)

Please if you get a chance stop over at this ladies beautiful space to see her crazy awesome style. Seriously, girl knows what's up.
seeing this made me happy :) it also made me want to go downtown immediately, haha!
