Harley Davidson Museum VROOM!

After years of living in Milwaukee there are so many things that I haven't done that you just need to while you are in this city.

Liiiikkeee The Miller Brewery...Milwaukee is known for Miller and I've never been there...I'm so ashamed.

On Saturday, however, I got to cross one of those things off my list. My popp gave me two tickets to The Harley Davidson Museum, so Meta and I threw on our leather jackets (obvs) and shimmied down to the museum.

Many would think of Harley as an unappealing and cringe at the sound of bubbling motors.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me that much.
I love Harleys and it's not just because I'm obsessed with Sons of Anarchy.
I like the noise of the roaring motors. It reminds me of summer.
I also love it because it reminds me that it's Milwaukee's own. Born and ridden. ;)
Did you see what I did there??

The museum itself is beautiful. It is a healthy blend of modern and industrial.
It's even one of the main wedding venues in Milwaukee for the interesting mix.

The exhibit starts by going through all of the motorcycles and how they have changed through out the years.

They show how people used the bikes through out the years whether it be for police, military, or post.

The first Harley ever.
It even has a #1 stamped on the inside.

They displayed all of the different engines and how they changed with new technology throughout the years.

1903-1912

2001-2009

This is a Harley that was bike-wrecked (?) after the devastating tsunami struck Japan in 2011. It drifted over 4,000 miles in a storage container all the way to British Columbia. The owner wanted it to be displayed at the Museum as a memorial to the tragedy.

This Harley is displayed for the 100th year anniversary back in 2003. They disassembled the motorcycle and sent the parts to all of the different locations around the world and had every employee sign the parts.

Every employee from every location.

Getting a little awkward...

The evolution of the logo.

At the end of the tour you may pick your very own motorcycle for a photo op.
I picked the Army one with the sidecar.
Unfortunately the sidecar was closed up so M couldn't be in the pick with me.
Sad day.

I'm a natural!
Going so fast the picture is blurry!

A cafe for the warmer of days.

Once I move out this summer I'll be bopping buy again to get some of the awesome posters and canvases.

I can't believe I had never been here before. The museum is really interesting and you learn so much about a company that was founded in Milwaukee.

If you live in MKE and have never been please go. If you are visiting MKE this should for sure be one of your destinations.

Believe me, it is interesting for everyone even if you don't have a motorcycle...or watch Sons of Anarchy.

  2. So when I was younger, I used to look up to my friend's dad because he rode a Harley. Now that I'm old enough, I'm no where near bad-ass enough. sighh in my dreams. Great post though!
