Café Calatrava

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I know I did!
I had a long weekend because I went up to Appleton (I'll tell you more about that later this week.)
My weekend wasn't good just because it was long, but because I spent it with my favorite person in the entire world: my sissy pants. Teehee!

Renée, Ben (Renée's husband), and I finished up the weekend by getting brunch yesterday at Café Calatrava at the Milwaukee Art Museum

Cute menu sign.

There she is!

Three of a kind with our coffees, waters, and mimosas.
I've really been feeling the mimosas lately. ;)

Renée's vegan banana pancakes with agave nectar.
It was amazing.

Ben's dirty, dirty monte cristo.

My egg's benedict with cheesy hash browns in tow.
Ben has put these at the top of his eggs benedict list.
They're that good.

After brunch we headed up stairs to take some photos with the amazing background.
Both wearing wedges.
Our mom says "wedgies." Heehee!

Pockets.

Aren't they an adorable couple?

And then the close-ups.
Look at those baby-blues!

While we were taking all of these photos we were saying how it is amazing how your eye sees all of the details of an object or a person, but it is impossible to totally capture what your eye sees.
There is SO much technology nowadays trying to copy how you see things with the bare-eye, retina display and what have you, but I really believe that it will never happen. The way the Lord created the eye is magnificent, it's impossible to imitate it.

Sissy is beautiful, but unfortunately for you, you will never truly see her the way I do. ;)

After our photo sesh we headed into Color Rush to take a gander at this season's exhibit. If you are in the area and interested in photography, I suggest that you go!

It was the perfect sunday spent with good food and good people.

How was your weekend?

  4. The Eggs benedict look so good! Over here in china, there's the bird flu going around, so I've been avoiding all egg product. So envious of you. Great post though!
